Corvette returns to the site of win 100

It was one year ago that Corvette scored win 100 right here at Lime Rock Park, and, one year on, they’re looking for their 106th.

Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin in the No. 4 car scored the 100th all-time win for the marque in a 1-2 Corvette Racing finish. The 1.5-mile “bullring” circuit is just one of the 24 tracks Corvette Racing has won on.

“It was a cool moment (in 2016) to get the 100th win for Corvette Racing,” Milner said.

“But the attention is now on getting 106, 107 and onward. That’s the focus.

“It’ll be nice to go back to Lime Rock and think about what happened there last year. But that will be a quick thought and then it’s back to how do we win the next one.”

Milner and Gavin went on to win the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship that year, but this year it’s teammates Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia in the No. 3 that are leading the points.

Despite their previous winning ways at Lime Rock—2016 marked their fifth victory at the track—winning again in 2017 won’t be easy for the team.

“The lap is so short that any error will cost you not just positions but laps,” Jan Magnussen said.

“Every part of what you do is magnified.

“The strategy has to be perfect, the pit stops have to be perfect and the driving has to be perfect. If we do those three things, we will be in great shape.”
